Currently, 3D seismic data coverage over Ghana’s sedimentary basins are as follows:
- Western Basin – 74%,
- Central Basin – 13%
- Eastern Basin – 16 %
- Voltaian – 0%
2D seismic data coverage over the 3 offshore basins amounts to a total of about 52,807 line-km.
The Voltaian basin has a 2D seismic data coverage of about 6025 line-km.
Surveys & Commissioned Studies
Regional Rock-Based Evaluation of Reservoirs, Source & Seal Rock Facies:
Collaborating with Core Laboratories Sales B.V. (“Corelab”) on a Regional Rock-Based Evaluation of Reservoirs, Source and Seals Rock Facies studies offshore Ghana in the Tano, Saltpond, and Accra-Keta Basin. These studies focused on washed and unwashed cuttings and core samples used for reservoir description, biostratigraphy, seal evaluation, and geochemistry / source rock evaluation. The studies are:
- Phase I Study executed in 2017 comprised of 57 wells, 3 ODP boreholes
- Phase II Study execution ongoing comprises of 30 wells.
Multi-Client Seismic Projects:
Currently, three (3) 3D multi-client seismic projects have been approved covering all 3 offshore basins. These project areas with the contracting companies are as shown in the map below:
- TGS: 12,000 sq. km
- Exploro-Geoservices: 10,000 sq. km
- TG-Geopartners: 13,900 sq. km
