Newly appointed Minister for the Bono East Region, Hon. Kwasi Adu Gyan yesterday called on the Commission. The call was for the Minister to apprise himself of the operations of the upstream petroleum industry.
In an opening remark, CEO, Egbert Faibille Jnr., expressed satisfaction at the proactiveness of the Minister to acquaint himself with the industry on the back of exploration activities by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) in the onshore Voltain Basin capturing the Kintampo North and South, Atebubu Amantin, Pru West and East, Sene West and East areas which fall under his region.
Mr. Faibille Jnr., reminded the minister of Ghana’s constitutional provisions on natural resources and indicated the Commission’s desire to collaborate with the Regional Co-ordinating Council in the event of an oil find.
Director Resource Management, Richard Addo Darko said that data have been acquired in these areas and there are indications of hydrocarbon potentials. Mr. Addo Darko took time to explain the nuances of the various stages of exploration to the minister.
The Geoscience, Engineering, Legal and Project Evaluation departments then took turns to address the minister and his team in a presentation.
Hon. Kwasi Adu Gyan expressed gratitude to the Commission for the time to explain the operations of the sector. He assured of his commitment to a healthy working relationship between his region and the Commission.
