Selected staff from the Geoscience and Engineering departments of the Petroleum Commission on Monday began a five-day training in technical areas relevant to their fields of work. The training dubbed, Competency Training and Talent Management comes on the back of an MOU signed between the Commission and Halliburton, arguably, the world’s largest oilfield company in July 2019.
Speaking at a ceremony to officially open the one-week training at the Agona Base of Halliburton, Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission, Mr Egbert Faibille Jnr., said in spite of Ghana having discovered oil about 13 years ago, there must still be efforts aimed at ensuring optimal knowledge in the industry, leveraging on best practices.
Senior Area Manager of Halliburton Africa and others, Mr Bharath Kannan, expressed satisfaction at the confidence reposed in it by the Petroleum Commission and assured that they will deliver. In his view it is only when people are equipped with the relevant skills that they can effectively deliver on their mandate.
