A delegation from Baker Hughes, a leading international service provider in the upstream petroleum industry, has assured Ms. Emeafa Hardcastle, the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Petroleum Commission (PC), of their renewed commitment to advancing Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector. This assurance was conveyed during a courtesy visit to the Commission yesterday afternoon.
The visit, which was to formally extend the company’s well wishes to the new Acting CEO, also provided an opportunity for them to update her on their extensive operations in Ghana, which date back to 2007, following the discovery of oil in commercial quantities. Since then, according to them, Baker Hughes has been an integral partner to major upstream players such as Tullow Oil and ENI.
The delegation also updated the Commission on their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, highlighting their efforts to foster strong stakeholder relations with communities affected by their projects.
They also highlighted their contributions to various sectors of the Ghanaian society, underscoring their commitment to supporting local development.
In addition, the delegation reaffirmed the company’s dedication to promoting local content and local participation in the upstream petroleum value chain.
In response, the Acting CEO, Ms. Hardcastle, expressed her appreciation to Baker Hughes for their continued partnership, and outlined the government’s commitment to leveraging the current goodwill of the Ghanaian people to enhance the fiscal and regulatory environment of the upstream petroleum industry.
She also provided insights into upcoming programmes , including Africa Oil Week, which will be hosted in Ghana, to attract global attention and investment into Africa’s hydrocarbon space in general, and Ghana’s oil and gas industry in particular.
