The Petroleum Commission hosted a delegation from the Ghana Oil and Gas Insurance Pool (GOGIP) led by the Head of Pool, Mr. Kwabena Larbi, to discuss strategic industry collaboration and capacity-building initiatives between the Commission and GOGIP.
At the meeting, GOGIP outlined its strategic plan for the year, including two major training programmes aimed at building the capacity of its members and some key stakeholders within the industry. This initiative aligns with the broader objective of developing and reinforcing Ghana’s capacity and expertise in insurance operations in the upstream oil and gas sector. The Ag. CEO of the Commission welcomed the delegation and reiterated the undeniable relevance of insurance underwriting in the upstream oil and gas industry which contributes significantly to the deepening of local content in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector.
The Ag. CEO commended GOGIP for the work done so far. She hinted the delegation about the impending Africa Oil Week (AOW) being organised in Ghana in September this year and called on GOGIP to consider actively participating in the AOW to showcase the Pool’s opportunities for investment in Ghana’s upstream sector. The meeting served as a reaffirmation of the long-standing partnership between the two organisations and an opportunity to welcome the Ag. CEO on her appointment.
GOGIP is an insurance pool established to provide insurance underwriting, risk mitigation and financial security for Ghana’s upstream oil and gas sector.
Over the years, the Commission and GOGIP have worked closely to enhance local content in the upstream petroleum sector.
