The Petroleum Commission held a meeting with Planet One Energy, together with their partners GOIL Upstream and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), to review progress of work in the implementation of their Work Programme under the Deep Water Cape Three Points Block (DWCTP).
The engagement provided Planet One an opportunity to brief the Commission on its operational progress, from inception to current activities, and outline its roadmap for upcoming projects.
Discussions covered key issues such as ongoing geological and geophysical works, plans for drilling of first exploratory well, procurement processes, contract management, and compliance with Ghana’s upstream petroleum regulations.
Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Ms. Emeafa Hardcastle, touched on the current dip in the industry and emphasised the Commission’s commitment to cost-efficiency in the delivery of upcoming drilling campaigns. She also emphasised the importance of ensuring that all sub-contractors of Planet One, meet the Commission’s regulatory requirements and guidelines.
Planet One highlighted ongoing efforts to recruit qualified Ghanaians in line with the country’s local content regulations. The company also indicated it is in the process of shortlisting drilling companies for its operations, assuring the Commission of its commitment to meeting all statutory and operational standards, as it plans to drill its exploratory well in Quarter One of 2026.
The meeting reflects the Commission’s continued drive to ensure that all companies’ Petroleum Agreements fulfil their Work Programme obligations, maintain a collaborative relationship with industry players, foster compliance, and ensure sustainable growth in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector.
